Hot spiced cider with a hint of orange is the perfect way to warm up in between dashing to and fro holiday errands and parties.
I served this at my holiday open house. It hardly takes a moment to mix together. Set it on the stovetop on medium low at least a half an hour before guests arrive to fill your home with its lovely fragrance.

1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1 large orange, quartered (with peel on)
Mix all ingredients in a large pot until warm. Serve.
I’m thrilled that you put an orange in this! I thought I was nuts when the idea of sticking an orange in an alcoholic cider drink I made popped into my head, but it does taste great!
Yes, I agree — orange and cider go really well together. Happy holidays!
Kendra- this is great. Brown sugar-mmmm! We are bringing the spiced cider for Christmas day and now we have a good recipe. Thanks- much love and keep these recipes coming.
I’m so glad, Ginger! I thought this was a great recipe. None of the flavors were too overwhelming and the brown sugar is a nice sweetener.
Sounds yummy! I’ll have to try it some day. I make a hot drink that is easy too – even portions of apple juice and cranberry juice put on the stove over low- medium heat with cinnamon sticks thrown in to simmer with the juices and then if you have an orange – slices of it go in each cup as it served but if you don’t have an orange still tastes good without it!
