Tonight the 2010 International Food Blogger Conference (IFBC) kicks off in downtown Seattle. And, yep, Kitchen Report will be present!
There are 250 people attending the (sold out) conference that will feature local chefs, food writers, tastings, and a screening of a new foodie movie, “Today’s Special.” On top of that, the organizers have asked the bloggers to post frequently during the three-day event.
I have my uniform ready: Laptop, digital camera, iPhone, necessary connecting cables, mini business cards, and this T-shirt.
When I showed this shirt to my brother before I left Boston he thought for a minute and said, “I wonder when my weird hobby is going to kick in. It is just a matter of time, everyone in our family has one.”
He was thinking primarily of our Uncle Dave who has a walk-in closet filled with military uniforms. Uncle Dave has a passion for reenacting and every member of the family has taken part at one time or another in some epic battle or parade. My experience was as a little girl in the Civil War who wandered around an encampment in a calico dress as men in uniform shot off muskets, yelled a lot, and “died” on the other side of a rope. I watched people watching me and ate stew from a salad bowl with a wooden spoon. That’s what I remember. (And I am not emotionally scarred in any way, promise.)
This weekend should be much less … imagination driven and I hope to remember, record, and learn much more than I did in the 1860s. It should be really entertaining and informative so I will be posting regularly. Thanks for following along!
Great food, a movie premiere, and cool clothes. Someone has to lead the life of a blogger. Why not you?
i look forward to hearing all about it.
I know. Someone’s gotta do it, right Dave?
I love that shirt!! Where did you get it? That is the best unofficial food blogger uniform I have ever seen.
Isn’t it great?! I found it at a craft fair in Union Square in Somerville, Mass., last weekend. I should have told the artist I’d be wearing it at a Food Blogger Conference, maybe he would have given it to me as free publicity.
I cannot wait to hear what you learn and who you meet!
Thanks for including me in this delicious adventure! Look forward to next post . . . .
PS: The shirt is excellent and will no doubt produce “comments” . . . .and smiles
